This module provides an overview of the main vehicle components involved in the trailer brake subsystem and describes how to control the service and spring brakes on the trailer. Trailer priority systems and safety considerations for trailer brake systems will also be covered. After completion, participants will be able to:
- Explain how to identify air lines and connect them to the trailer(s)
- Explain how to apply the service and spring brakes on the trailer using different control valves
- Describe the function and operation of the tractor protection system
- List steps to test trailer brakes and determine a trailer’s priority system
