This module takes participants through the 12 inspection areas on both the tractor and trailer portions of a combination vehicle. It will also outline practices for inspecting the key components in each area.
After completion, participants will be able to:
- Describe how to prepare for an inspection
- Explain what to look for as they approach the vehicle and at each inspection point
- Describe how to check the condition of engine components, suspension, and brakes
- Explain what to look for when inspecting the wheels, rims, and tires at each axle
- Describe how to inspect the cargo tank shell, ladder, catwalk, hoses, and specialized equipment
